My family celebrates many holidays, but here are some of main ones.

-Christmas: We celebrate Christmas by decorating the tree with lights and ornaments. We decorate the tree with music playing and all of us drinking eggnog. Then on Christmas morning we wake up at 7:00 and we go downstairs and open our stockings. After that we have Christmas breakfast which consists of waffles, berries, scrambled eggs, and biscuits. Then finally we go into the living room and open the presents we all gave each other.

-Thanksgiving: For Thanksgiving we go up to Connecticut and we see our family friends. We also go grass sledding and hiking. then for the meal we eat and then the kids go in the basement and play video games. We also play flashlight tag.

-Easter: For Easter we go out brunch in Boston and we see my siblings that are in boarding school.

-My birthday: For my birthday, I have a party with my friends, and I get to pick the dinner. I also sometimes get presents from my friends, but I always get presents from parents.

Stagville Field Trip

My class went to a plantation called Stagville. We went on Wednesday, and we learned about the enslaved people’s style of life. I learned that 10 people lived in about a 12 feet by 9 room. We got a partner and we cut a piece of wood with a two person saw. Then we went to the owners house and saw how much nicer that house was. It was painted white and it had all this super fancy stuff in it.

We also learned about an enslaved person that looked after the owners daughters. When all the daughters except one died, the one that was alive took the caretaker with her to Philadelphia to find a doctor to cure her of the disease that the other daughters died from. The daughter went to Philadelphia 3 times, and on the third time the caretaker ran away. She came back to Stagville to find her 3 children, but she was only reunited with 2.

It was a great experience and I recommend going there if you have time. Thanks for reading this post!
